PORTRAITS    STILL LIFE     LANDMARK S   ARCHITECTURE

Favorite things, an important person,  an historical landmark, a beautiful place, and memorable occasions make wonderful subjects for paintings in homes, offices, public spaces and  institutions. Collectors can be assured of an easy, collaborative process to create a  meaningful, new addition to their collection with the help of an experienced, professional artist.

GETTING STARTED

Email, call us,  or  v
isit our studio and permanent gallery at one of our Open House Weekend/Private Sale  [see Events], with an idea that moves you.   We'll go over  the process needed to carry it out-  from the concept to production to  wall placement. and estimate a price.  If you approve, the artist  may set up a photo shoot.  Immediately after the shoot, we'll  have a look at the results and select the way we envision the painting, utilizing the ideas generated in the photos. If the assignment does not involve sittings, then a rough is presented before commencement and approved for composition and content, such as a still life, castle, or florals or interiors or residences. In this case think about the season you prefer and any embellishments, like your pet on the front porch, or your favorite flower in bloom! Think what you want in your painting and we'll do our best to  make it happen.

The PROCESS

For the most part the artist prefers to work without the use of photos or artificial lighting. Exceptions do occur : posthumous requests,  long distance assignments, pets,  or children.  During the first consultation, photos are made mainly to assist in compositional decisions. Clients are asked to look at a portrait album with examples of alla prima, traditional old master, loose, two dimensional or sculptural execution, to determine their preference.
All details are discussed and noted at the first consultation.  The client agrees to the commission and it is placed on the artist waitlist. with an estimated time of delivery. The price quoted will be fixed if the decision is made within a reasonable time after the first consultation and the time estimate is not a rigid unless there is an event related to the delivery, and fair notice is given.  After agreement between the artist and principel,  sittings are arranged and the work begins.

MATERIALS

Paintings are customized to bring out the best features, colors, and setting represented. The palette also varies according to what is necessary. One painting can be done with a minimalist palette of 1 or 2 colors and some require a natural palette with close to fifty colors.  In all cases, only the highest caliber of professional artists materials are used, such as Winsor & Newton, Old Holland, Holbein, Rembrandt and painted in the manner preferred by the client--impressionistic, alla prima, or in traditional classical way by layering.

PRICING AND PAYMENT

Prices are  specific to a combination of factors, presented to each client with a set  'menu' of choices. Most are included in the basic fee. Some are not inherent in all works and have a separate estimate.
After the composition is decided, the client  is provided with a comprehensive summary and a graduated payment schedule is suggested, usually in 3 intervals.  The waitlist can run six (6) months to one year.  The commissioned is confirmed when it is placed on the waitlist with a small down payment.  Clients have final approval upon delivery at which time the final balance is due.  Payments are accepted in Euros unless otherwise agreed.
